Dart Ambassador: Jayme Dougherty
When did you start riding and what inspired you to do so?
I was always interested in motorcycles, but put the brakes on getting my license for quite some time. I was scared but I bit the bullet and signed up for a local MSF course. I had never ridden a motorcycle before then.
What was your first bike?
My first bike was a Yamaha SR400. It was a great bike, perfect size, but that kick start wore out it's welcome pretty quickly for this newbie.
What is your current bike and what makes it special?
I currently ride a 2016 Triumph Street Twin. I think what makes it so special is that it's really given me a level of confidence I didn't know that I could have. We've been on some great adventures together...and I can touch the ground!
Do you have any favourite riding destinations?
I absolutely love the Solvang and Los Alamos area just north of Santa Barbara. Those rolling hills and farmland just do it for me. Riding through Joshua Tree at sunrise is also a pretty magical experience as well.
What are your passions outside of riding?
I absolutely love baking and sewing, I make motorcycle hip bags and made myself a quilt to take moto-camping. I dabble in a bit of piano although I'm not nearly as good as I used to be and love getting out of the city as often as possible.
Do you have any big plans for the upcoming year?
I'll be taking my longest trip yet on my bike in a couple of weeks, heading to La Pine, Oregon to attend The Dream Roll with some of my best friends. The following month will be my third year attending Babes Ride Out and then who knows what will be on the agenda for the rest of the year. Hopefully more moto campouts!
