I mounted this to a 1985 Yamaha XJ700X Maxim X. This was not its intended fitment and it required quite a bit of bending of the mounting brackets. I did like that the screen was big enough to fit around the two gauges (speedometer and tachometer). If you would like to make brackets specific to the Maxim (that I suspect would also fit a Virago) please let me know and I would be happy to help with the measurements!

I use this Dart for SRX 600, it is perfect fit.
The headlight of SR 400 and SRX 600 is the same.

Top quality and service. Thanks.

The fit and finishing is top notch which is not only pleasing to the eye but also assuring in terms of safety of use.
The classic flyscreen has a distinctive difference in deflating air flow away from the chest, making the ride more enjoyable.
Honestly, this is a bit pricey compared to other screens available on Amazon but the great finishing and functional improvement to ride quality has made me a happy customer.

Easy to install,looks rite,works well,shipping was quick!

A picture paints a 1000 words. Both the screen and fixtures are of high quality and absolutely loving the look it adds to my bike. Thanks DARTS

Mounted it on my SWM Gran Turismo with a little bit of filework and a couple of spacers. I cannot believe the difference it makes to riding. Can just sit up and ride even at 110kph which is a pleasure. It also looks really cool

I would have preferred clear, but that was not an option.
I would like it to be bigger, but that was not an option.
I would like it to be stiffer and thicker (it moves). The bracket is damaging my chrome (needs a soft pad).

Great addition--both functionally and aesthetically--makes my Yamaha SR 400 , already cool, even more so

Looks great, installation was easy and the instructions were spot on. I think it is reducing wind blast to my chest at highway speeds.

This is a beautiful screen. The product is top notch quality, excellent instructions. It add a personal touch to my Yamaha SR400. Very easy to install. Great product great company would highly recommend it.

Easy installation (10 mins), good design, well engineered and fits perfectly.

wind is now directed at my face and ears. maybe because im only 5 ft 7 in. ear plugs will cut the noise from the wind going past my e ars.

Full disclosure; I actually mounted this on my XS650 rather than my SR, both 1978 models. As expected I had no difficulty mounting despite some mild initial trepidation. That said, I love it. Not only does it look good but it has eliminated some buffeting at speed. So, well done.

World of difference on Interstate. Before, at high speeds I had to grip the handlebars tight to stay on the bike. Now, with the fly screen I can relax the hands and arms at high speeds.

For the SR400, the fitment and integration into the look of the bike is great. It is clear that Dart takes a lot of pride in their product: the shipping box was sturdy and the inner box holding the Flyscreen and components is beautiful from a design/production standpoint and artistic standpoint. The packaging could be a reference for other manufacturers to emulate. The screen design is simple. Although added hardware for mounting is supplied (headlight bucket), it is not necessary for the installation as the OEM bolts work well. The installation instructions were simple, a bit more detail could be easily incorporated and possibly helpful for some folks. That said, the installation is fairly straightforward as I had my 9 year old daughter read the instructions and turn wrenches and screwdrivers. The engineering / design of the product itself is elegant. I was at first a bit off put by the rough metal texture of the mounting brackets. Having them on the bike and riding, the non reflective intent of the brackets shows the thought behind choosing the texture; chrome, or black, would have reflected or looked wrong once on the bike and using the shield. As it stands, the mounting brackets just fade into the background. I wrapped a bit of electrical tape to the mounting bracket tabs to reduce some vibration or wear on the metal to metal mating surfaces. The shield in light tint is the perfect darkness for me; it just fades into the background and does its job.
In so far as performance, as a fly screen it does an admiral job of breaking up the direct wind on the torso. I ride with a Bell Mag 9 open face. Prior to the shield, shoulder checks were met with a big tug and wind gust up the inside of the visor. Now with the shield in place, no such monkey business happens. A bit of vibration from the bike makes it to the screen, but nothing really shakes, resonates, or comes loose. At highway speeds, the windblast to the chest is less, but there may be a bit more buffeting on the helmet at higher speeds (the SR400 is not the bike to use at highway speeds for extended periods anyway). This is not a full screen, and is not engineered to be one. The fly screen does let you be more comfortable at highway speeds over an unscreened bike.
I am quite happy with the screen and would fully recommend any one with an SR400 looking for a fly screen to get this one. I looked at other manufacturers, but they didn't have a bike specific screen; I didn't want to have too much modifications to make should it not fit correctly. The price is right, even better when bought directly from Britain to the USA as the exchange rate is decent (less than the USA cost); shipping took some 8 days; anyone with knowledge of the pointy end of a screwdriver can install it; the packaging, engineering, production quality are all great; and most of all, it flat out works.

I use my SR400 as a secondary commuter in Southern California. I was getting pummeled by the wind on the 405 so I invested in a fly screen. It has helped immensely and has made the riding experience much more enjoyable for me without impeding my sight lines. My only criticism is that the installation directions did not indicate that I would have disassemble the headlight in order to properly fit the fly screen. Otherwise I have been 100% satisfied with the entire experience with Dart and would highly recommend this product. SV

Looks great on my 2015 SR400 with dark tint. Really helps with keeping the wind off your chest above 60 mph and makes the ride much more enjoyable. Great quality fly screen.

Its a little weak in design but
does the job.

The screen gives shape to the bike and is effective.

I fitted the SR400 screen to my '89 Honda Hawk GT650. It required two 3/8" spacers, available at my local hardware store, but fits nicely. It not only looks good, but also smooths the air stream more than I expected.

For my 2015 Yamaha SR 400. Everything is top quality, installed without any trouble and fit was perfectly—bracket alignment and trim around headlamp just right.
Instructions were clear and concise. Dark tint color is good and the overall design fits this traditional-styled bike. When riding it's stable at higher speeds and deflects air well.

Couldn't be happier with my Dart Flyscreen. Installation was a piece of cake, and it suits the look of my SR400 perfectly. The dark tint is just right for my tastes, and so is the size. Great job.
